Hello, I'm Amy S.

I have practised exclusively in criminal defence for over 17 years​,​ representing clients across all levels of State and Commonwealth jurisdictions with a focus on serious and complex crimes. After graduating with honours in a dual degree of Laws and Business from QUT​,​ I completed a Master of Laws and the Bar Practice Course. I have been admitted as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia for over 17 years. Following six years with a large criminal law firm​,​ I established Ashworth Lawyers in 2014. Since then​,​ I have appeared in courts throughout Queensland and have also represented clients in Sydney​,​ Melbourne​,​ and Adelaide. My practice includes defending clients charged in major drug operations​,​ transnational organised crime​,​ sexual offences​,​ high-value fraud​,​ white-collar and regulatory matters​,​ and complex Commonwealth prosecutions. I have represented clients in CCC coercive hearings and coronial inquests​,​ and am known for meticulous preparation​,​ practical judgment​,​ and strategic foresight. I work closely with clients to minimise stress and always seek opportunities to resolve matters early where appropriate. I am also a fellow of The Australian and New Zealand College of Notaries and an active member of the Queensland Law Society Wellbeing Working Group.
